LookForAnything

Editorial Policy

What we publish, how we check it, how advertising is kept out of it, and what happens when we get something wrong.

Last updated 15 September 2026

This page sets out the standards every article on LookForAnything is held to. It is a commitment to readers, and we would rather be measured against it than judged on good intentions. If we fall short of it, tell us at info@lookforanything.com.

Sourcing

We work from primary sources wherever one exists: manufacturer documentation and published specifications, regulator and government guidance, official statistics, and peer-reviewed research. Articles link to those sources so you can check our reading against the original rather than take our word for it.

Where a claim comes from a company about its own product, we attribute it to that company rather than presenting it as an established fact. Marketing claims and measured results are not the same thing, and we try never to blur the line between them.

What we have and have not tested

Not every review is a hands-on review. When an article is based on published specifications and documentation rather than on a unit we have used ourselves, the article says so explicitly, in the article, not in a footnote. We would rather publish a clearly-labelled specification analysis than imply testing we have not done.

Advertising and independence

The site is funded by display advertising. Three rules follow from that:

  • Advertisers have no say in what we cover, what we conclude, or when we publish.
  • No advertiser sees an article before it is published.
  • No article on this site has been paid for by the company or product it discusses. If that ever changes for a particular piece, that piece will be labelled as sponsored at the top, clearly enough that nobody could miss it.

Where we hold any commercial relationship relevant to an article's subject, we disclose it in that article.

Corrections

We get things wrong, and the useful question is what we do next. Report an error to info@lookforanything.com or through the contact page, and we will:

  1. Acknowledge the report, normally within two working days.
  2. Check the claim against the original sources.
  3. Correct the article if it is wrong. Substantive corrections — anything that changes the meaning, the facts or the recommendation — are noted on the article itself, saying what was changed and when. We do not quietly edit a mistake out of existence.
  4. Fix typographical and formatting errors without a note, since recording them helps nobody.

If we conclude an article is not wrong, we will tell you that and explain why, rather than letting the report go unanswered.

Keeping articles current

Every article shows the date it was published and, where it has been revised, the date of its last update. Prices, regulations and product ranges change, and a guide that is silently three years out of date is worse than no guide. We revise pieces when the facts move, and where an article can no longer be kept accurate we withdraw it rather than leave it up.

Bylines

Articles are published under a shared editorial team byline. We do not invent author personas, and we do not attach a fictional name and biography to a piece to make it look more authoritative than it is.
